We are more than just a body...
While modern medicine focuses on "repairing and fixing symptoms" in the body, the holistic approach is to integrate our mind and our spirit into the healing process!
Science based medicine is very limited in it's effectiveness for a real and true healing process. It's main focus is on the "problem" (the sick organ).
For the mind this approach can be very toxic, because what ever the mind focuses on becomes bigger. Instead of programming the mind with positive (supporting) thoughts, the mind becomes filled with fearful, negative thoughts about a illness or a weakened body part.
Furthermore, appointments tend to be rushed - resulting in no time to talk to the patient and to care for his or her emotional well being (mind and spirit).

HOLISTIC HEALING = integrated healing approach
In the holistic approach the main time is spend on finding the "source" or the "emotional trigger" for the symptom of the disease.
Many aspects play a role in the emotional well being. Social stress such as "bulling", and family stresses such as the separation of parents play a mayor role in the emotional blueprint of children and youth. Many Symptoms such as asthma, allergies, akne and distorted sleep patterns can be temporary cured by medication, but will always resurface if the emotional trigger is not found and resolved.
In adults unfulfilling jobs, unhealthy relationships and old, suppressed, emotional pains from the past usually result in chronic fatigue, allergies, and or addiction of substances or negative behaviours. All those symptoms can and will be medicated in our quick fix society. But again this is just a short term cure and has nothing to do with healing.
Healing is a process that needs the willingness of the patient to work on ones own life and lifestyle. Healing is not a quick fix, but an intentional act of growth, and realignment with our deepest values.
